Welcome Tour: Exhibition „Speaking Stones“
The guided tour in English of the exhibition „Speaking Stones“ at the Adamson-Eric Museum will be led by the exhibition’s curator, Marge Laast.
„Speaking Stones“ invites us to look closely at stone as one of the oldest and most traditional materials in the world. The exhibition explores how stones and rocks have inspired stone carvers, as well as painters and jewellery artists, during different periods of history.
Sometimes we can assemble a whole from fragments, and sometimes we must take the whole apart to understand it better. But what if the fragments no longer have a place because the whole has been destroyed?
The exhibition features previously unexhibited or rarely exhibited carved stones, models of carved stones, and works of art from Estonia’s medieval towns. Displayed in dialogue with these stones are stone-themed works by Estonian artists.
Welcome Tour is a series of curator-led tours in English at the Old Town branches of the Art Museum of Estonia, where museum professionals introduce Estonian cultural heritage and temporary exhibitions, ranging from medieval to contemporary art. Come and learn about Estonian art, culture and history. Everyone is welcome!
