Soul of Fado: concert by Flor de Sal

A concert by a duo Flor de Sal in Adamson-Eric muuseum is an intimate journey through the soul of Fado. At the opening of the exhibition of Portuguese azulejos, we invite the audience on a musical journey through the colours and emotions of Fado. A minimalist and intimate concert where voice and guitar come together to reveal the many faces of this unique tradition: sadness and joy, popular and refinement, tradition and modernity.

A special moment where Portuguese music resonates in Tallinn, just like the shine of the azulejos — simple yet deeply intricate, filled with history and feeling. Flor de Sal is a musical duo formed by Ana Magalhães (voice) and Daniel Fonseca (guitar). Both artists have eclectic backgrounds and have participated in various festivals and musical projects. In 2023, their paths crossed in Tallinn, where they decided to give voice to the longing for their homeland and to bring the sounds of Portuguese and Brazilian music to these northern latitudes. Thus, Flor de Sal was born — a project that blends tradition and modernity, intimacy and passion. They perform regularly, with monthly concerts at Tasca Portuguesa, in Tallinn’s Old Town.

The exhibition Azuljeos: The Pearls of Portugal introduces the rich history and artistic diversity of the Portuguese ceramic tiles called azulejos. Ceramics have played a prominent role in the cultural heritage and architecture of Portugal. The colourful and detailed tiles tell an engaging story of history, religion, and people’s everyday life, taking the viewer on an exciting journey to different eras. The exhibition also presents more modern approaches and fresh perspectives on this traditional medium. This is a rare opportunity to see Portuguese art heritage in Tallinn.
